After each course school Principals and TY co-ordinators are asked what they thought of 121digital. Here are some of the answers:
Are you satisfied with the 121digital programme ?: Yes. Very pleased.
Will you repeat it?: Definitely. We want to run a minimum of 2 (ideally 3) courses per annum, so that all our students have the opportunity to experience the 121digital program.
What are the benefits for your pupils?:121digital provides a maturing experience, community building, intergenerational and interpersonal skills to the transition year student volunteers. It encourages shy students to be more confident in the company of adults and it allows confident students to show their peers how to interact with seniors.
What are the benefits of the TY program for the school ?: TY student volunteers learn how to teach (one person at a time) and the experience gives them an appreciation for the work of the teachers in the school. The 121digital program is an excellent medium through which the school can be active in supporting the local community.
Does the programme add much work to the TY Co-ordinator’s work-load?: No. The Facilitator(s) facilitate and run the lessons and 121digital helps them with advice to find and register the Learners and to build circulation lists and maintain the waiting-list.
Additional comments:121digital has become an integral part of our TY program. We want it to continue and spread. We have recommended it to other schools. 121digital is considered a valuable module of transition year. It is popular with the majority of students.
In our surveys, principals and TY co-ordinators are asked to reply with their critical feedback.
